On January 25, 2022, Chris Robinson submitted a signed candidate survey pledging to champion conservative education policies.

On that survey, Mr. Robinson pledged to sponsor all forms of school choice including Education Opportunity Accounts, charter schools, and even a constitutional amendment so that money will finally follow children to the school that best fits their needs and reflects their family values.

Unfortunately, even before stepping foot into the political swamp of Frankfort, Kentucky, Mr. Robinson already broke his signed pledge by telling a local superintendent that he opposes public charter schools.

Mr. Robinson argues that letting money follow the child harms public schools. But Mr. Robinson fails to recognize that the money doesn't belong to the schools. Rather, education dollars belong to families and their children.
For example, no one would ever argue that letting people use their food stamps at Kroger steals money from Walmart. Education funding should be no different.
In fact, we already let money follow the student for pre-K and college (e.g. Pell Grants and the GI Bill). Of course, the liberal teachers' union is desperately fighting to protect its monopoly that receives 52% of your state tax dollars - a figure that does not even include your property taxes.
To make matters worse, Mr. Robinson shamelessly told voters in the above video at the Campbell County Republican Party candidate forum that he opposes money following the child - even though he admits that he sent two of his children to private school.
Bottom Line
Will Chris Robinson say anything to get elected?
Yes.
Does Chris Robinson believe school choice should only be for those who can afford private school tuition like his own family?
Apparently so.
Mr. Robinson, we're glad you can afford to give your children the best education possible. But why do you oppose letting others have that same opportunity?
Kentucky Senate District 24 deserves better.
